| I work in PC format (Windows)
and will endeavour to meet your software requirements
for your translations.
I produce most of my translation work in Microsoft
Word. If your text for translation is on paper
or in fax/PDF form, this will probably be the
software I will use for your translation, unless
you have other requirements.
If you have a file, I can overtype it with the
translation – this ensures that all layout,
formatting (bold, underlining, etc.) and numbers
in your document will be retained in the final
translation. You can supply files by e-mail and
on diskette and CD/DVD.
My range of Windows software includes the following
packages:
| Word Processing |
Other |
| Microsoft Word |
Microsoft Excel |
| |
Microsoft PowerPoint |
For many translation projects, I also use a special
package for professional translators called TRADOS
Translator’s Workbench. Although
not machine translation software, this database
software ‘remembers’ translations
of previous sentences and phrases, which means
that repetitive phrases need be translated only
once.
This enables me to offer highly competitive rates
on documents in which the text for translation
is repetitive. It can also speed up the translation
process, which means that your translation can
be produced more quickly.
TRADOS also eliminates one of the biggest problems
in technical translation: how to ensure that terminology
and phraseology used within documents and projects
remains consistent. You can therefore be sure
that all terms used within your translated document
will be consistent, thus improving overall quality.
